NEXT CONCERT
With guest conductor
In over half a century of music-making, Kensington Symphony Orchestra has built an enviable reputation as one of the UK's most accomplished and adventurous non-professional orchestras. Established classics, neglected masterpieces and works of today's leading composers are all hallmarks of KSO's repertoire, all performed with a skill and panache that has garnered praise from all quarters.
KSO welcomes guest conductor Andrew Gourlay to perform three powerful works at St. John's, Smith Square on Saturday March 20th.
As well as being an "asteroid" to orbit Holst's mystical masterpiece The Planets, Australian composer Brett Dean's Komarov's Fall is a poignant tribute to cosmnonaut Vladimir Mikhailovich Komarov, who in 1967 became the first man to die in space. Another memorial completes the programme: Britten's monumental Sinfonia da Requiem, both an elegy to his parents and a plea for peace in time of war.
I hope you will be able to join us.
